HHSA Welcomes You!
Because knowledge and self determination is our heritage!

About Us
Heritage Homeschooling Advocates
was created as a place for Yah fearing Torah centered homeschooling families to come and form community through the facilitation of social activities, availability of academic resources, and the support of student expression. It is a hub for individual families and homeschool groups alike to come build relationships, learn, and put to practice what they are learning in their homeschooling journey. Resources to support or supplement their education are also made available here. Beyond being an outlet for our students we support parents by offering information and resources for them to get organized, inspired, and started on their home education journey. Through HHSA our students have a safe space to get involved in fun lighthearted academic contests, social learning clubs, chats, and much more. We know we stand on the shoulders of giants and in the footsteps of great ones like Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, Marva Collins, Lillie Ann James mother of Daniel "Chappie" James who all embody the heritage of self-determination and home education. We also know we hold the torch of a beloved and challenged nation, who was once restricted from educational facilities yet still carved themselves out to be authors, educators, government officials, military heros, scientists, scholars and the list goes on. Here our homeschoolers can shine and learn about themselves, their community, and their relation to the world as they learn from one another. As with any virtual learning space parents are asked to observe their children at all times while in sessions to ensure their behavior is not compromising another's learning experience. We have daily, weekly, and monthly activities, opportunities to win small prizes, a podcast and even a newsletter for students to get into. There's always something good going on at HHSA and we're excited to meet you!

Student Social Chats
HHSA hosts video social chats for school age students organized by age/grade groups and guided by an administrator to ensure the children's safety, as well as, ensure that conversations and content are age appropriate. Program is available to all students of HHSA. No registration needed.

Bright Lights Book Club
In this book club there is something for all ages. We have lists of suggested books categorized for students by age/grade. View the appropriate group list to verify when new book readings will begin. Students get together by group for a brief reading and discussion about the current selection. Younger readers meet for story time style reading sessions and discussions. The program is available to members of the HHSA who have registered for the BRIGHT LIGHTS BOOK CLUB Program

Tutoring
Seeing our students succeed is something that we cherish. Virtual tutoring or one-on-one study sessions are available to HHSA Star members. As a community we endeavor to support parental efforts and provide students the extra help they may need. Contact us to learn more about our tutoring availability or request an adult tutor for your student.

Newsletter and Junior Newsletter
A membership based program dedicated to providing opportunities for students to learn new skills and put to use skills they are learning. Students are in charge of creating the Junior Newsletter which is a smaller version of our monthly newsletter. In this program they will gain organization knowledge, leadership experience, production and journalism experience, partake in graphic design and much more. We encourage parents and other adults to become an HHSA member which includes our monthly newsletter featuring highlighted portions of the junior newsletter.

Mathamania
Fun and mathematics in the same sentence, who would have guessed? But math can be fun and we want our students to see exactly that. Our math gauntlet features various mathematical games that students can play for a chance to win some cool prizes. Gauntlet study problems will be made available for students prior to each gauntlet however, the same problems are not guaranteed to be apart of the activities so be sure to practice. Mathamania is only available to HHSA members. Prizes are given to winners. A small entry fee is required for non Star members.

Monthly Spelling Bee
Vocabulary lists are given for each age group of HHSA members. Students then have the chance to partake in some lighthearted competition showing off their study skills for a chance to win super stellar speller prizes. You must be an HHSA member to register for the spelling bee. Prizes are given to winners. A small entry fee is required for non Star Members.

Study Buddies
Looking for a study partner? Chances are someone else is too. Students can join our study sessions in virtial group settings where we provide fun extracurricular learning activities in core subjects. Administrators facilitate study sessions where students will play games, use flashcards, and learn interactively. Email us and specify the students grade and subject matter so groups and materials can be adequately prepared. Available for all students members and non-members.

Ruminations Critical Discussion
This one is just for the highschool aged HHSA members. Our goal here is to promote critical thinkers who understand various perspectives and communicate effectively. Discussion setting is virtual with no "winners" or "loosers." Students will be given a particular topic and instructed to form an argument in favor of or not in favor of it. While the conversations may get interesting we want to instill qualities such as listening to understand, showing respect for speakers, forming complete and informed 'arguments' utilizing sources, and have all walk away more informed and enriched than they began. The discussions will be moderated to ensure all stay respectful and that the objectives, more than persuasion, are being met. To participate child must be registered for Ruminations Critical Discussions.
